The fire swept through hutments at Kothapalem village in Katrakona mandal this afternoon, they said, adding cause of the blaze was not yet known.

Hundreds of people, mostly fishermen and their families, were rendered homeless and shifted to relief camps, an official added.

The inferno was put out after hours of firefight, police added.
