Over 3,000 complaints received from pensioners in November: Personnel Ministry

Over 3,000 complaints were received from the pensioners in November this year, the government said on Thursday.
"The primary responsibility for sanction of pension to the retiring govt employees and resolving the grievances of pensioners vests with the department/organisation from which the employee retires.
"All officials found to have been creating problems for pensioners are liable to be proceeded against under the appropriate discipline and appeal rules," minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said in a written reply to Rajya Sabha.
Of the total 3,073 grievances received between November 1, 2019 and November 24 this year, 2,280 were resolved, he said.
The minister said a total of 2,591 grievances were received during October, 3,576 in September, 4,427 in August, 4,873 in July, 3,762 in June, 2,821 in May, 3,166 in April, 2,743 in March, 3,201 in February and 3,549 in January.
Of these, 2,949 grievances (cumulative) were resolved in October, 4,226 in September, 4,064 in August, 4,384 in July, 2,777 in June, 3,125 in May, 3,106 in April, 3,089 in March, 3,313 in February and 3,300 in January.
The Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare under the Ministry of Personnel has an integrated grievances cell and call centre for central government pensioners or family pensioners for registering their grievances, he said.
These grievances include matters relating to non/delayed/incorrect sanction of pension/other retirement benefits/family pension, non-payment of fixed medical allowances (FMA) or dearness relief (DR), submission of life certificate and CGHS or health related issues among others.
"All grievances/complaints received in this department from pensioners/family pensioners are forwarded through online mode/digitally to concerned ministry/ department /organisation for redressal within 60 days," Singh said.
The Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare is the nodal department for framing rules and policies relating to pension matters of central government civil employees, he said.
