With the theme "Donate organs, Save Lives", more than 3,000 persons, including doctors, students and members from educational institutions, today participated in the 'Kovai Marathon'.
Organised by Kovai Medical Center and Hospital (KMCH), the run, an annual feature since 1992 to lay stress on the importance of physical well being of the people, was flagged off by the city Mayor P Rajkumar from Kongunadu Arts and Science College at 6.00 am and concluded at the hospital, covering a distance of 18.2 kms.
A large number of school students, aged between 9 and 13 years, also participated in a 6.5 kms event starting from Vilankurichi junction.
The Winners were awarded with a cash prize of Rs 10,000, Rs.7,500, Rs.5,000 respectively for the first, second and third places in different category.
