More than 580 kg of narcotic drugs worth Rs 130 crore that were seized on various occasions recently near here, have been destroyed.
The drugs were seized in 14 different cases by officers of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (Chennai) and Customs department (Preventive) Commissionerate, an official release said today.
Some narcotic drugs that were destroyed included heroin, mandrax tablets, ketamine pseudophedrine, pseudophedrine hydrochloride, zolfresh, alprazolam, the release said.

The department 'incinerated' the 588 kg of the seized substances at disposal facility authorised by the state pollution control board located in Chengalpet taluk last week.
The drugs were destroyed in the presence of the seven-member drug disposal committee led by Additional Commissionerof Customs (Preventive) J Balasundari.
The seized drugs were disposed as per provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985 upon completing investigations and other formalities.
