Over 80,000 youths will get unemployment allowance from August under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Sambal Yojana, Rajasthan minister Ashok Chandna said on Friday.

He said 41,738 new applications were approved till July 22, he said.

Replying to a question in the House, Chandna said 40,000 registered beneficiaries under the Akshat Yojana were given Rs 83.32 crore between December 2018 and July 2019.

He claimed that in the past five years, the BJP government in the state had given the allowance to 40,000 unemployed youths, whereas the current dispensation in its first year itself would give the allowance to 82,000 unemployed youths.

"Till date, Rs 83.32 crore has been distributed among youths and Rs 230 crore will be given to them by December," the minister of state for skill development and employment said.

Chandna alleged that during the BJP government's rule in the state, there were seven lakh registered unemployed youths but the allowance was given only to 40,000 of them.

He said the Congress government in the state included 1.60 lakh unemployed youths in the scheme.

On February 1, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had announced that male applicants would get Rs 3,000 per month whereas women and differently-abled would get Rs 3,500 per month.
