The Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) today approached the Gujarat High Court, seeking a direction to police to allow people to meet its leader Hardik Patel who has launched an indefinite fast.

The Patidar leader sat on the fast at his residence near here to press for quota for his community and other demands. His protest entered the fifth day today.

The petition alleged that police were not allowing people to visit him at his residence in Greenwood Society.

The matter is likely to come up for hearing tomorrow.

The petition likened the city police to "Gestapo" (the secret police in Nazi Germany), and challenged legality of the action of Joint Commissioner of Police Vishwakarma and other officers in not allowing people to meet Patel.

Police have no right to restrain anyone from entering Hardik's own residence, it said.

Former member of parliament Dinesh Trivedi and 28 Congress MLAs who paid Patel a visit were "restrained and misbehaved with", the petition alleged.
