Around 150 passengers of the Nilgiris Mountian Rail (NMR) Train service were today stranded in the middle of the ghat section following landslip on the track near Aderley Station.

The heritage train, which started at 2.30 PM from Udhagamandalam, was stopped half-way before Aderley following landslip, with boulders on the track, railway officials said.

Around 150 passengers were panic-stricken as they were stranded in the middle of the jungle on ghat sections, amid rains, police said.

Railway authorities arranged vehicles to bring passengers to Mettupalayam, for which they have to climb down about three km and some railway staff are assisting them, railway officials said.

Meanwhile, the train returned to Coonoor and in view of the landslip, the services of NMR were cancelled for tomorrow, officials said.
