The Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) today sent samples of certain Patanjali products for testing, civic officials said.

The health department of the civic body had collected these samples from three different city-based distributors.

Patanjali is promoted by well-known yoga guru Ramdev.

"We have taken samples of food items like cow ghee, biscuits, atta noodles, chilly powder and besan from three distributors. These samples were collected to check their quality under Food Safety and Standards Act of India (FSSAI)," RMC deputy health officer P P Rathod said.

"The samples have been collected following instruction given by the state (Gujarat) health department after some of the products failed in lab testing," the official said, adding that these samples have been sent to a Vadodara-based lab.
