Congress has appointed Harish Choudhary, its secretary in-charge of Punjab, as a member of the screening committee for the 2017 Assembly polls in the state.
"Congress president Sonia Gandhi has included name of Shri Harish Choudhary, secretary in charge of Punjab, in the screening committee for the forthcoming Punjab assembly election with immediate effect," party general secretary Janardan Dwivedi said in a statement.
The Congress had formed the committee yesterday and appointed former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot as its head.
Besides Gehlot, the committee comprises AICC secretary in charge of the state Asha Kumari, Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh, CLP leader Charanjit Singh Channi, former Indian Youth Congress chief Rajiv Satav and former MP Meenakshi Natarajan.
