Lok Sabha on Wednesday witnessed an angry exchange between Railways Minister Piyush Goyal and senior DMK leader T R Baalu over asking of supplementaries during the Question Hour.

Addressing the chair, Baalu alleged that the opposition parties were being "ignored" and are getting little chance to ask supplementary questions.

But Goyal apparently construed that Baalu's comment was directed at his junior minister Suresh Angadi who was responding to most of the questions.

"The Opposition is simply being ignored," Baalu said, following which Goyal intervened saying, "No sir. How can the member say this? The question was on an issue, which has been answered. Queries on every line cannot be answered in the House."

Baalu hit back saying the minister is wrong and he should have courtesy towards the opposition. The DMK leader said the Speaker is there to regulate the House.

Later, when Baalu was asked by Speaker Om Birla to ask his question, the DMK member said the senior minister (Goyal) is "very harsh".

"His father was very close to me. The senior Goyal was very nice to me. This is what I want to express to the junior Goyal," he said.

Goyal responded by saying that everyone respects Baalu.

"You are a very senior leader and my father was your friend. I thought you said that the answer has not been given, to which I was responding that a detailed answer has been given," Goyal explained.
