Prime Minister Narendra Modi today greeted Vice President Hamid Ansari on his 79th birthday and wished him a long life and good health.
"Wishing our respected Vice President, Shri Hamid Ansari ji on his birthday & praying for his long life & good health," tweeted Modi, who is in the US on an official visit.
"Hamid Ansari ji has served India in various capacities during his long years in public life. His scholarly zeal is widely respected," he said in another tweet.

Ansari was born on this day in 1937 in Kolkata.
Ansari, who is in office since 2007, has the distinction of being the only Vice President after Radhakrishnan to be re-elected to the post.
The Prime Minister also greeted people of Odisha on Utkal Diwas today, which is celebrated in the memory of the formation of the state as a separate province in 1936.
"On Utkal Diwas, I convey my greetings to the kind & industrious people of Odisha & hope that Odisha's development will attain new heights," Modi tweeted.
