Police ask Durga Puja committees to install CCTVs in pandals

"We have requested the puja committees to install CCTV cameras in their premises and also keep fire-fighting equipment at hand," Kamrup Metro Senior Superintendent of Police A P Tiwari told reporters after a meeting with puja committees to review security for the celebrations scheduled on October 21-25.

He said the Durga Puja committees have also been asked to set up control rooms to deal with any kind of emergency.

"Our effort is to minimise security threat," Tiwari said.

On an average, over 500 committees organise Durga Puja in Guwahati.
