Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana E S L Narasimhan Sunday said everyone should remember the glorious sacrifices made by the police personnel and pledge to take the spirit further to protect the country.
Addressing an event organised as part of the Police Commemoration Day here, the Governor said, "We owe a great debt to the police personnel who have really been able to maintain peace and public order.
"Let us recall their glorious sacrifices and promise ourselves to take forward their spirit and the ideals for which they sacrificed their invaluable lives,"he said adding "we all should stand by the families of Martyr's and support them."
In his address, Telangana Director General of Police M Mahendar Reddy said the department was striving to ensure that policing was done with human touch.
Earlier,Narasimhanreleased Martyrs' book and handed over a copy to the DGP and another one to the Hyderabad Commissioner of Police Anjani Kumar.
The Governor, the DGP and all the senior, retired Police officials paid homage to the Martyr's memorial with flowers.

Meanwhile, caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao also paid rich tributes to the police personnel who were martyred while discharging their duties.
Recalling the services rendered by the police on the occasion, Rao said the people and the country would never forget the supreme sacrifices of the martyrs.
He wanted the police force to rededicate itself to the ideals shown by the martyrs and for the maintenance of peace, order and harmony of the society, an official release said.
The Telangana government was according highest priority to the welfare of the families of the martyrs.
