Police declares Rs 95 lakh cash award on 15 NDFB(S) leaders

Assam Police today announced a cash reward of Rs 95 lakh on 15 top leaders of the banned NDFB (Songibijit), which has killed eight persons across the state since January 17.

"The cash reward is announced for anyone giving information of the 15 NDFB(S) leaders and help us catch them alive or dead. The person's identity will not come out," ADG (Law and Order) Ajit Prasad Rout told reporters here.

The list of NDFB(S) leaders wanted by the state police, included Chairman and Commander-in-Chief of the group Songbijit Ingti Kathar alias IK Songbijit alias Sarsingh Ingti alias Sangbijoy on whom a sum of Rs 10 lakh was announced.
 

B Saoraigwra, C Rwikha and Ranjit Basumatary also carry a reward of Rs 10 lakh each on them, he said.

An amount of Rs 5 lakh each has been declared on G Bidai, Birbai, Binod Mushahary, B Rwimwilu, B Birlangbai, Ronjoi, B Jarimin, Naihab, Jwblang, Mwdan and Gobinda Rava, the ADG added.

Since January 17, eight persons, mostly Hindi-speaking, have been killed by the anti-talk NDFB(S) faction across the state.

Meanwhile, the state government has written to the Centre for 15 more companies of central forces to tackle the situation.

"We have requested the Centre for 15 more companies of forces and we would be receiving them in few days," IG (Law and Order) Satyendra Narayan Singh said.

He, however, said the situation in the state was under control and the police have re-tuned and refined their strategy.

State police, in coordination with other security agencies, has intensified its operations and has changed the force deployment tactics, he added.

Around 95 companies were positioned in Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa and Udalguri districts that have seen NDFB(S) activities in recent times.
