Darjeeling district police have started helpline numbers to help tourists and local people from errant taxi drivers, hotel and restaurant owners.
The numbers are 0345-2254422, 0354-2254400 and 9O83270435.
Darjeeling DSP Sidharth Dorjihas said, tourists and local people can complain against taxi drivers for fare hike, not plying as per route permit, drinking and driving, ill treatment to passengers, etc.
"We hope that this initiative will go a long way in restoring the confidence of the tourists, as well as the locals many of whom become a victim of touts and greedy hotel, restaurant and taxi owners," he said.
