Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Tousem Nehemia Jajo Chodang was found dead at his Nagaram residence, the police said.
The body of the 58-year-old was found by his relatives who went to his residence and found the door locked from the outside.
The body was found in a highly decomposed state, the police said.
There were injury marks on the officer's body, a senior police officer said adding, investigations were on the ascertain the reasons behind the SDPO's death.
The victim reportedly lost contact with his family members since February 25 as most of them stayed outside the state. He had also taken three days leave, the police.
