President Mukherjee to be in Shimla for summer retreat

President Pranab Mukerjee arrives here tomorrow on five-day visit to Shimla for summer retreat.

The President, to be accompanied by his daughter Sharmistha, would preside over the golden jubilee convocation of Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) at Peterhoff here on June 3 and attend a banquet to be hosted in his honour at Raj Bhawan.

Mukherjee, who will stay at Chhrabra, 14km from here, would host "At Home" on June 5 and return to Delhi on June 6.
President Pranab Mukherjee also presented the

'Vayoshreshtha Samman', the award for senior citizens and institutions in recognition of their service towards elderly persons.
 

He was accompanied by the Union Social Justice Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot, Ministers of State Krishan Pal and Shri Vijay Sampla.

The awards were distributed at an event here to mark the International Day for Older Persons.
