The prime accused in the murder of an old woman from the city's Netaji Nagar area has been arrested, police said here today.
Mohammed Bablu alias Chunnu (37), a resident of Katihar in Bihar, was arrested from Bandel railway station in Hooghly district late last evening.
The body of 67-year-old Gouri Sen was found at her Netaji Nagar flat on June 17 and it had appeared that the murder was a fallout of a robbery there.
Suspecting that the robbery was staged by the culprits to hide the actual intention behind the murder, police had detained the victim's estranged husband along with some other occupants of the house.
Later, police arrested two youths who were members of the gang who allegedly killed Sen and fled with valuables including jewellery.
