Pul instructs water supply for schools, hospitals, anganwadis

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Kalikho Pul today instructed that all schools, hospitals and anganwadi centres in the state should get 24x7 water supply connections within the next financial year.

"The survey and DPR should be completed within the shortest possible time," Pul stressed during a review meeting today, which was attended by PHE & WS Minister Lombo Tayeng, Parliamentary secretary Alo Libang, PHED Commissioner H K Shalla and senior department officials, an oficial release said.

He asked PHE & WS departmental officers to take up the drinking water supply augmentation programme in a planned way to improve service delivery.

He also asked them to make judicious use of limited resources and to come up with a comprehensive plan.
 

To do away with recurring problem of water scarcity during lean period everywhere, he emphasized to tap drinking water from perennial sources.

Pul also instructed the department to tap underground water by boring wells in the hospitals, secondary schools and residential schools in the first phase and to make provision for rain water harvesting in these institutions.

Referring to the water crisis in Itanagar, Pul instructed immediate beginning of the proposed water augmentation schemes in the town by April as an emergency redressal measure.
