Various Sikh outfits today gave a 'Punjab Bandh' call on January 10 to extend support to Sikh activist Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa who is on an indefinite fast demanding release of Sikh prisoners from jails lodged in different states.
This announcement was made by Sikh outfit group Damdami Taksal led by Amrik Singh here today.
Other Sikh outfits which are supporting the bandh call are United Akali Dal led by Mohkam Singh, Sikh Youth Federation, Sikh Youth Front, Shri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee.
Khalsa, who has been on a fast for last 56 days at a gurdwara in Ambala in Haryana, has been seeking the release of seven Sikh prisoners, including those convicted for the assassination of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh in 1995 and one for bomb blast in New Delhi in September 1993, in which nine persons were killed and 25 others, including M S Bitta, were injured.
