A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting of Punjab Governance Reforms Commission, held here today, an official release said here.

The task group has decided to work in the first instance on laying down standards for availability of human resource, medicines as well as infrastructure in the public health facilities at various levels.

It was agreed that there is a need for better networking of the Government hospitals and medical institutions, including through telemedicine for the benefit of the citizens.

The group headed by Talwar, a former Director of PGIMER here, also decided to examine the provisions of the Clinical Establishments (Registration and Regulation) Act, 2010 with a view to developing a model for regulating private healthcare without bringing in 'Inspector Raj' in the state.
