To make train journey more comfortable for passengers commuting on the Delhi-Puri route, Railways have decided to equip the Purushottam Express with Linke Holfman Bush (LHB) rakes from December.
Purushottam Express will now run with 22 LHB coaches from from December 1 from Puri, said a senior East Coast Railway official.
Currently the superfast express is equipped with conventional coaches.
Railways have plans to run all superfast long distance trains with LHB coaches which are equipped with advanced safety feature and modern facilities like higher speed level, better shock absorbers and low noise level.
The LHB rakes also have anti-mounting mechanism to prevent mounting of coaches over another coach in case of derailment and reduce damages, thus being advanced in terms of safety.
The 22 coaches of Purushottam Express comprise of 12 sleeper class coaches, four AC-3, one AC-2, two general second class coaches, two luggage-cum-generator coaches and one pantry car.
LHB coaches are also equipped with controlled discharge toilet system which help in improving cleanliness level at the stations.
The system prevents discharge of waste at station as the toilet is automatically sealed at station and it opens up only after the train acquires a minimum speed of 30 km per hour.
All premier services like Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains are running with LHB coaches.
