Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh and Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on the eve of International Literacy Day today called upon the people to play a constructive role in making the entire state literate.
Singh in a statement said that active participation by people is required for complete literacy.
Exhorting every literate citizen to take part in "battle against illiteracy", Raje said that education helps in overall development of a person and it also strengthens the democracy because a literate man is capable and aware of his rights and duties.
"Only literate society progresses in true sense," she said in a statement.
