Rape victim attempts suicide

A 22-year-old woman, who was allegedly raped by two persons last week, attempted to commit suicide here in a hospital where she was taken for medical examination by police.

The woman was saved by timely intervention by her husband after she attempted to hang herself from a ceiling in sadar hospital room where she was brought for medical examination, police said.

Her husband had lodged a complaint with Akbarpur police station that his wife was raped by two unknown persons on April 27 night, office in-charge of Akbarpur police station Lalan Prasad Singh said.

He said search operation is on to nab the accused.
