A teenage girl who set herself ablaze after being raped by a 20-year-old youth in Bharatpur district of Rajasthan, died in the hospital today, police said.
The 14-year old girl was under treatment in RBM government hospital in Bharatpur since September 30, when she had tried to attempt suicide by set herself ablaze, they said.
The incident took place when the victim was alone in her house and the accused identified as Deepak forcefully entered and allegedly raped her.
Meanwhile, girl's brother Pooran came back to take a farming tool and caught the accused and locked him in a room.
When Deepak's family members came to know about the incident, they came and thrashed Pooran and took the accused with them, police said.
The girl then poured kerosene and tried to set herself ablaze, they said.
An FIR was lodged against 18 persons including the accused and all of them are absconding since the incident, police said adding, the body has been sent for post mortem.
