Amid strong domestic as well as exports demand in the spot market, cardamom prices were up by 1.57 per cent to Rs 1,519 per kg in futures trade today as speculators built up fresh position.

Besides, restricted supplies from producing regions also influenced the sentiments.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in February shot up Rs 23.50, or 1.57 per cent, to Rs 1,519 per kg in a business turnover of 51 lots.

Traders said fresh positions created by participants on the back of rising domestic and exports demand in the spot market against tight stocks position on fall in supplies from producing regions mainly pushed up cardamom prices at futures trade.
