Chana prices moved up by 0.75 per cent to Rs 4,462 per quintal in futures trade today as participants built up fresh positions, driven by uptick in demand from dal mills at spot markets.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in January was trading higher by Rs 33, or 0.75 per cent to Rs 4,462 per quintal with an open interest of 45,240 lots.

Likewise, the commodity for delivery in December gained Rs 29, or 0.65 per cent to Rs 4,485 per quintal in 10,330 lots.

Analysts attributed the rebound in chana futures prices to fresh positions created by traders after pick up in demand at spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions.
