: In its continued drive against the encroachment of reserved lands, the city corporation has retrieved 2.5 acres of reserved sites, valued at Rs 24.60 crore in the last couple of days.
The drive was carried out in five zones of the Corporation on December 23 and 24, Corporation Commissioner Vijaya Karthikeyan said in a release here today.
While 85 cents of land valued at Rs eight crore were retrieved from East Zone, 20 cents worth Rs three crore were recovered from West Zone.

Similarly, 50 cents of land worth Rs eight crore, which included shops built by private persons, was taken into possession from North Zone, Rs 3.60 crore worth 70 cents of land were retrieved from South Zone, he said.
Steps were on to retrieve encroached land occupied by private shops in the Central zone, he said.
