The Income Tax Department today seized Rs 50 lakh, purportedly meant to be used in the run-up to assembly elections in Rajasthan, at Shahpura on the Delhi highway.
The money was recovered from a car, which was on way to Jaipur, at a checkpost in Shahpura area, the IT Department said in a release.
The person carrying the money could not explain the source of its origin, it said.
The money, apparently meant to be used during electioneering, was seized, the release said.
