A host of health care initiatives undertaken by Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility have yielded amazing results bringing smiles on many faces.
The health care activities undertaken in collaboration with Ispat General Hospital (IGH) include various specialised programmes, an RSP release said.
Project 'Baljyoti' and 'Sunayana' deal with the restoring the eyesight of children and elderly people while 'Sushruti' caters to the hearing impaired.

Similarly, project 'Harsh' takes care of cleft lip and palate disorder, Project 'Sneha' is intended for curing the leprosy patients, Project 'Akshaya' caters to Tuberculosis and Project 'Charaka' provides free surgical treatment to the locals, it said.
Altogether 69 patients were operated in IGH free of cost under Sunayana while 15 patients were treated under Sushruti last fiscal. 618 patients were treated under Sneha, 35 patients given indoor treatment under Akshaya and 24 operated successfully under Surabhi in last financial year.
Five cases were operated successfully under Harsh, 8723 persons have been screened under Chetna and 16 cases were operated successfully under Charaka.
An MoU was signed between IGH & Drushti Dan on March 24, 2014 for establishment of an Eye Bank at IGH, it said.
Apart from these projects, free weekly and bi-weekly medical aid centres operated in 32 peripheral locations. These centres are operating weekly once in 17 villages and weekly twice in 15 villages, the release said.
