Tamil Nadu assembly polls: Salem PMK candidate R Arul attacked
Police suspect the involvement of a rival group of PMK in the attack

PMK candidate for Salem West constituency R Arul and another party functionary were injured after they were allegedly attacked by some unidentified men near here, police today said.
Arul, his assistant, Vijayakumar, and a few party workers were engaged in election-related work in their office last night when four persons on motorcycles attacked them with lathis, they said.

The assailants also damaged two cars parked on the office premises.
Arul and Vijayakumar suffered injuries on the head, face and shoulders, police said, adding, they have been admitted to the Salem Mohan Kumaramangalam Medial College Hospital.
