District today tightened security for inquiry commission office of U Sagayam, elected by Madras High Court to inquire into illegal mining of granite in the district following anonymous call threatening to burn the records.
The call was received by police commissioner office today.
The security for Melur judicial magistrate office had also been tightened as some vital documents had been kept there, police said.

Sagayam had earlier received death threat when he began investigating some months ago.
Police said security had been beefed up in all places relating to the granite scam investigation.
Sagayam, as the then Madurai District Collector, had in 2011 estimated the loss to the state exchequer due to illegal granite mining at around Rs 16,000 crore.
