South Eastern Railway's earnings from passenger traffic jumped by Rs 92.34 crore during the first five months of the current fiscal, while having carried nearly 1 million passengers more during the same comparative period, SER sources said today.
During April to August of the current financial year, SER earned Rs 688.13 crore from passenger traffic as against Rs 595.79 crore earned from passenger sector during the same period last year, which is an increase of Rs 92.34 crore, the sources said.
SER carried 108.82 million passengers as against 107.88 million passengers during the corresponding period of the last fiscal, thus recording a growth of 0.87 per cent.

Out of the 108.82 million passengers carried between April and August of the current financial year, 57.78 million were suburban passengers while 51.04 million were non-suburban passengers.
Earnings from passenger traffic recorded a big jump of 15.50 per cent during the first five months of the current fiscal in comparison to the corresponding period of last year, the sources said.
Out of Rs 688.13 crore earned from passenger traffic during April to August of the current financial year, Rs 646.30 crore was earned from non-suburban traffic, while Rs 41.83 crore was earned from suburban traffic, sources added.
