Seven fishermen arrested for using explosives to net fish

Seven fishermen were today arrested for allegedly using explosives to net fish off Devipattinam coast near here.

Police also seized the special equipment for blasting the explosives from them.

The arrest followed a tip-off received by Coastal Marine Group Police inspector Kumaravel about some fishermen using explosives to net fish.

Six gelatine sticks were also seized from their boats, police said.
