BJP President Amit Shah today trained his guns on Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) for not celebrating 'Telangana Liberation Day' officially and charged him with being "scared of" AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi for not choosing to mark the occasion.

Alleging that Rao is playing vote-bank politics, he told a public meeting here, "I want to ask KCR whom you are scared of? Shall I tell (asking the public)... Is he afraid of Owaisi. But, we BJP party never fear anyone. Till BJP is there we will celebrate Liberation Day. No one can stop us".

Noting that Maharashtra and Karnataka are celebrating the occasion as "Liberation Day", Shah said, "I want to ask Chandrasekhar Raoji do you feel ashamed to celebrate it as liberation day? They want to do vote-bank politics. Do you (KCR) feel that Owaisi will help you in holding onto power".

He reminded KCR that the public of Telangana have made him Chief Minister and not Owaisi.

Recalling history, Shah said people of the region had to wait for over a year to get liberated from the clutches of Nizam's rule.

Caustic remarks by Shah assumes significance as KCR was praised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his recent visit to Telangana for solidly backing the GST bill, passed by the Parliament recently.

BJP has been demanding that the Telangana Government officially celebrate the occasion as "liberation day" as Hyderabad State was "liberated" through "police action" on September 17, 1948, more than a year after India got Independence.

BJP considers the Nizam's rule in the erstwhile Hyderabad State as "tyrannical", "oppressive" and "autocratic" and claims that Telugu language was discouraged as the medium of instruction in educational institutions during their period.

Speaking about the Centre's schemes, Shah said the Modi government has given over Rs 90,000 crore worth of schemes to Telangana state, and alleged that it is yet to reach the public.

Similarly, several schemes of NDA government were not implemented properly in Telangana, he claimed.

Further alleging that the schemes are not reaching poor, youths and farmers of the Telangana, he said KCR and Company are indulging in corruption and trying to lure elected representatives of opposition parties to defect into his party.
