Director Arindam Sil's new film on popular Bengali fictional detective Byomkesh Bakshi will hit the floors next month.

The film, 'Byomkesh Gotro', is inspired by 'Rakter Daag' written by Saradindu Bandyopadhyay.

Shooting will commence from June 6 and the film will be released during this Durga Puja, Sil told reporters today.

Abir Chatterjee will don the hat of the sleuth while Sohini Sarkar will essay the role of Satyabati, the better half of Bakshi.

Rahul Banerjee would be seen as Byomkesh's perennial assistant Ajit.

Anjan Dutt, who had directed several Byomkesh films, would enact the character of Ushapoti Das, who is the father of Satyakam - a rich spoilt brat. Arjun Chakraborty would essay the role of Satyakam.

Percussionist Bickram Ghosh will do the musical score of the film, Sil said.

Sil had previously directed Har Har Byomkesh (2015) and Byomkesh Pawrbo (2016) with Chatterjee essaying the role of sleuth.

Dutt had earlier made Byomkesh Bakshi (2010), Abar Byomkesh (2012), Byomkesh Phire Elo (2014), Byomkesh Bakshi (2015), Byomkesh O Chiriyakhana (2016), Byomkesh O Agniban (2017). The last three Byomkesh films by Dutt had pitted Jisshu Sengupta in the lead role.
