Shop owner arrested for sexually assaulting woman

A 21-year-old shop owner was arrested here today for allegedly sexually assaulting a medical store employee on the promise of marrying her near Karamadai rural area.

Sahayaveeran had befriended the girl, a graduate working in a medical store and promised to marry her. He then allegedly sexually assaulted her and later stopped meeting her, police said.

Realising that she had been cheated, the woman lodged a complaint and Sahayaveeran was arrested today, they said.
