SIT to probe irregularities in use of panchayati raj fundsin U'khand

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) will probe alleged irregularities in the use of funds allocated by the 14th Finance Commission to Uttarakhand's Panchayati Raj Department,

The order was issued by state Panchayati Raj minister Arvind Pandey while reviewing the implementation of schemes being run by the department.

Expressing unhappiness over the alleged irregularities in purchase of items by the department, Pandey asked Principal Secretary Panchayati Raj Manisha Panwar to institute a probe by the SIT into use of funds allocated to the department from 2015-16 till date.

"The funds allocated to the department belonged to people and no irregularities or duplicacy in their use will be tolerated," an official release quoting Pandey said.
