Six policemen were injured when they were allegedly attacked by a mob at Shekhpura village in Bahsuma area in the district where they had gone to nab an absconding accused, police said today.
The incident occurred yesterday when a team of Bareilly district police personnel led by Sirouli Police station in-charge Ganjedra Singh Tyagi had gone to Shekhpura village to nab Pathan aka Khan, police said.
Pathan, who was carrying a reward of Rs 15,000, had fled from the police custody from near Bhojpur police station in Bareilly on March 15, they said.

The team caught Pathan inside the home of one Firoziddin, the police said.
But Firoziddin's family started shouting and other villagers joined them in surrounding the team, police said adding they pelted the team with stones and opened fire.
Police also fired in the self-defence, they said.
The villagers managed to free Pathan and in the process six policeman got injured.
The injured policemen include Sirouli Police station in-charge Ganjedra Singh Tyagi, Inspector Chaman Singh Bhadana, Inspector Shankar Singh and constables Rajbeer, Lokesh Kumar, and Tahir.
They were admitted to a private nursing home and five of them were released from the hospital after first aid.
Police have registered cases against 10 named persons and 150 unnamed others and investigation is on but nobody has been arrested as of now.
