SL court remands fishermen to January 6

A court in Sri Lanka today remanded till January 6, the 15 fishermen arrested by naval personnel of the island nation off Dhanushkodi on January 2.

S Armstrong Fernando, President of Pamban Nesakarangal Trust, said the fishermen were produced in a court today at Kuthalam, which remanded them till Jan 6.

The fishermen were arrested by Sri Lankan naval Naval personnel on Jan 2 when they were fishing in the Gulf of Mannar off Dhanushkodi. They are presently lodged in a prison at Neercolumbu, Fernando said.
