A suspected attempt to derail the Pune-Indore Express by putting cement slippers (blocks) on the tracks near Palej failed this morning, officials said.
Government Railway Police lodged a first information report against unidentified persons. Nobody was injured in the incident, but cattle-guard of the engine got damaged.
The incident took place between Palej and Bharuch railway stations, said the Western Railway PRO Pradeep Sharma.

As per the first information report (FIR) registered at Bharuch, some unidentified persons put cement slippers on the railway tracks near Palej early this morning and when the train passed, it dragged them for around one and half kms, but luckily did not derail.
It came to a halt near Palej station, 25 km away from Bharuch, where it underwent inspection and repair before resuming the journey after an hour, a police official said.
Cement slippers are huge long cement blocks used in making of boundary walls and pillars.
