Police today claimed to have busted an inter-district gang of purse and mobile snatchers by arresting its two members here.
The duo from Goraya in Jalandhar district were also involved in drug peddling and 150 gram intoxicating powder was recovered from them following their arrest last night, police said.
While 80 gram powder was recovered from Jaspreet Singh, 70 gram was seized from Chetan Sharma, police said.
Two snatched mobiles were also recovered from them.
Police also impounded the motorcycle used by the duo for committing the crime.
The duo targeted women for snatching their purses and pedestrians, especially migrants, for snatching their mobiles as these were considered 'soft' targets, police said.
The duo used a 'dattur' (sharp-edged weapon) for intimidating the victims, police said.
The duo had confessed their involvement in over half-a-dozen cases of purse and mobile snatchings, police said.
