A social media spat between two groups in Chhattisgarh's Raipur took a violent turn Sunday when a 24-year-old man allegedly shot at and injured two youths, the police said.

Police have arrested the main accused Arun Yadav (24) and detained a minor in connection with the incident.

The victims are identified as Tushar Pandey and Pratap Chandrakar, a police official said.

As per preliminary investigation, an argument had broken out between Yadav and the two victims on Facebook over some comments a couple of days back which resulted into a physical fight between them recently, he said.

The two groups again had a face-off on the same issue on Sunday when Yadav allegedly opened fire from a country-made pistol at Pandey and Chandrakar in Mahadevghat area under DD Nagar police station limits at around 7:30 pm, the official said, adding that the duo were admitted to hospital.

The victims and the accused were reported to have links with political parties.

Their facebook posts and comment were being checked, the official said.

A case has been registered and further probe is underway.
