A street in north Delhi area was christened after Lord Parshuram as 'Bhagwan Parshuram Marg' today, officials said.

"Shahstri Nagar area's M-Block Lane No 7 in Sadar Paharganj Zone has been named as 'Bhagwan Parshuram Marg'," NDMC public relations officer Yogendra Singh Mann said.

The street was inaugurated by NDMC mayor Azad Singh and Delhi BJP chief Vijay Goel.

Chairing the event, local ward councillor Neelam Dhiman said the naming was done after it was demanded by the locals.

"Since long the residents of M-Block Lane No 7 had been demanding to name the street after Lord Parshuram and the Corporation has fulfilled their demands," Dhiman said.

According to Hindu mythology, Parshuram is the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
