Student attempts suicide by jumping from 5th floor

A 28-year-old student of a private medical institute was seriously injured after she allegedly tried to commit suicide by jumping from its fifth floor today, police said.

Lakshmi, hailing from Namakkal district and pursuing her first year MS course, climbed up the stairs and jumped off the fifth floor of the PSG Institute of Medical Science and Research, they said.

She is in coma and is undergoing treatment at the institute's hospital, police said, adding, investigations are on.
