Sugar climbs on heavy demand

Prices of both the varieties of sugar climbed further at the Vashi wholesale market here today following heavy demand from stockists and bulk consumers amidst restricted supply.

Small sugar (S-30) rose by Rs 78/43 per quintal to Rs 3,160/3,285 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 3,082/3,242.

Medium sugar (M-30) also surged by Rs 88 per quintal to Rs 3,290/3,450 as against Rs 3,202/3,450 previously.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,160/3,285 (Rs 3,082/3,242).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,290/3,450 (Rs 3,202/3,450).
