Sugar falls on lower demand

Prices of both varieties of sugar -- small and medium -- fell at the Vashi wholesale market today on lower demand from stockists and bulk consumers.

Small sugar prices slipped by Rs 34/30 per quintal to Rs 3,116/3,210 from last Thursday's close at Rs 3,150/3,240.

Medium sugar dipped by Rs 30/92 per quintal to Rs 3,230/3,460 as compared to Rs 3,260/3,552 previously.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,116/3,210 (Rs 3,150/3,240).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,230/3,460 (Rs 3,260/3,552).
