Sunil Kumar Mishra named as Odisha's new CIC

Odisha government today announced the appointment of former bureaucrat Sunil Kumar Mishra as the new Chief Information Commission (CIC) of the state.

Mishra's name as the CIC was announced by the Chief Minister's Office following an approval by Governor S C Jamir.

Mishra will succeed former chief secretary T K Mishra. The post of CIC was vacant for the last two years.

Mishra's name was selected at the meeting presided by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on October 6. Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bikram Arukha were members of the selection committee.

Two other names - additional chief secretary in Chief Minister's Office (CMO) U N Behera and retired chief secretary of Odisha S K Panda- were also considered at the meeting.
