: Acting on complaints from the public about alleged irregularities in PDS shops, the district administration today conducted surprise inspections and suspended a ration shop employee at Umayalpuram area.
An official press release said the action followed Collector A Annadurai's direction to all taluk supply officers and the co-operative sub-Registrar's to form flying squads and send them to verify stocks in fair price shops, entries in family cards and confirm issue of essential commodities by contacting card holders through their mobile phones.
During an inspection,the squad found a salesperson of the PDS shop at Umayalpuram recording essential commodities as having been given to card holders when it had actually not been done and he was suspended, the release said.
