The lone CPI(M) MLA in Jammu and Kashmir Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami said today he would not be supporting any alliance or coalition for government formation in the state.

"There is no question of extending support to any formation trying to form the government in the state," Tarigami said.

The MLA from Kulgam said fresh elections should be held in the state at the earliest.

"There is no option but to hold fresh elections in the state. The sooner these polls are conducted the better it will be for Jammu and Kashmir," he said.

The state was placed under governor's rule on 20 June this year, a day after PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti resigned as chief minister following withdrawal by the BJP from the coalition government led by her.
